Bhau Daji Lad Museum

The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad deposit opened to the general public in 1857 and is Mumbai's oldest deposit. it's the erstwhile Victoria and Prince Albert deposit, Bombay. The deposit building is one in all the foremost vital historical sites of the town. it had been the primary colonial building to be designed for the particular purpose of housing a deposit.

A little quite 100 years later, on All Saints' Day, 1975, the deposit was renamed the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad deposit in honor of the person whose vision and dedication enabled its institution. Dr. Bhau Daji Lad was the primary Indian law officer of Bombay, a donor, historian, physician, Dr. and secretary of the deposit Committee once it had been initially instituted.

By 1997, the deposit had fallen into a state of unsoundness. The derelict condition during which this extraordinary nineteenth-century building lay resulted in INTACH effort to revive the building and objects. A three-party agreement was signed between the MCGM, the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation and INTACH in February 2003 and also the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad deposit Trust was established for the improvement and management of the deposit.
