Herreshoff Marine Museum
Stop 1:- Welcome
Welcome to the Herreshoff Marine Museum and America’s Cup Hall of Fame.
The Herreshoff Marine Museum is dedicated to the legacy of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company and its history of technological innovation. This company, sometimes known as “HMCo.,” was founded by John Brown Herreshoff (known as J.B.) and his younger brother, Nathanael Greene Herreshoff (known as N.G. or Captain Nat). It operated from1878 through 1945, its last two decades under Haffenreffer family ownership. In total, the company built some 2,000 boats, including seven successful America’s Cup defenders, five of them designed by N.G.
During this tour, we’ll explore sailing history and technology and learn about the incredible impact of the Herreshoff family on the world of naval architecture and boatbuilding. You will also have an opportunity to board some of our historic boats.
